Aatidonji Day

SDM English Medium School, Dharmasthala, celebrated Aatidonji Day with great enthusiasm, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Tulunadu. The entire school campus was beautifully decorated to reflect the traditions and customs of the region.
The programme was inaugurated by Mr. Yadupathi Gowda, retired Principal of Vani College, who lit the ceremonial lamp and formally inaugurated the celebration. Addressing the gathering, he spoke about the language, culture, customs, and traditions of Tulunadu. He also explained the scientific significance behind many traditional practices with authentic examples and enriched his speech with several Tulu proverbs and riddles. Through various illustrations, he highlighted the lifestyle and cultural values of the people of Tulunadu.
As part of the celebration, the school organised an exhibition of medicinal plants, traditional games played during the Aati month, and displays highlighting healthy food practices. A seminar on the scientific importance of the Aati month was conducted, and an exhibition of books on the Tulu language and culture was also arranged.
The Wall Magazine Club organised a wall magazine-making competition based on the theme of Aati, while the Readers’ Club conducted a Tulu proverb competition. The winners of these competitions were honoured with prizes during the programme.
